Day3-Wayanad

We planned to visit two national parks on the last day of our Wayanad stay. We started the day by 8, had our breakfast, and were ready for the day.

Pookot lake:


Early by 8:40, we visited a nearby lake, Pookot lake. 

Location: It was just a 10 minutes ride from our resort, Silent Creek.

What to expect: There is a place for children to play, one can enjoy boating in the lake, Fish spa and a small aquarium is also present here.

We spent a few minutes here and started our way towards Mudumalai National Park. We spotted a few deer on our way to the National park.


Mudumalai National Park:


Location: 3 hours from Pookot Lake

What to expect: Lucky Ones Can Spot Cheetah Here. 

Duration: 1-hour safari. Be ready to stand in Queue for the tickets.

Jeep safari costs Rs.1200. We were not lucky to find anything interesting except a Cheetah's prey was hanging from a tall tree.

 So, we hoped to find something interesting in the next National Park, Bandipur.


Bandipur National Park: 

Location: Half Hour From Mudumalai National Park

We reached the park by 3:15 Pm. We opted for a bus safari this time. We were ready for the 3:30 pm safari.

Know about the safari timings on their site and plan accordingly. 




What to expect: Our luck was better here. We spotted a few boars, quite a big and a different type of lizard, Chameleon, peacocks, bear, deer, and Elephants. 


Duration: 1-hour Safari 


There are still a few other tourist places left in Wayanad like Pakshipathalam, Soochipara, and Meenmutty fall. We skipped a few as it was very far and few falls were dry.


General tip on visiting national parks based on our experience in the three national parks we visited in this trip

* Try to book a Forest guest house ahead. There are more chances of spotting animals during your stay in the interior of the forest.

* Be early to avoid rush and standing in the queue.

*More number of safaris, more are the chances of sighting the animals.


After 5 days of stay and 3 days of sightseeing, we left for Chennai with good memories. Overall It was a very good trip where we enjoyed falls, been to caves, and was along with nature throughout our trip.

1.Realisation: Am I obsessed with my thoughts?  Will you please stop chattering? Why don't you leave me free ?Can you please stop thinking about it? Why do you always hold on to it?   The moment we informed others that we are planning to spend five days in Vizag, the first question everyone asked was " What is there in Vizag to spend five days?" . To be honest, we felt it tight by the end of our trip. Though Vizag as such doesn’t have many places to visit, there are places in and around Vizag to make the stay wonderful. For people who are interested in an ancient ruined sites, this is a good place to visit. Places Not To Be Missed: While in Vizag, it is better to combine Araku and Borra Caves and a few rare temples near Vizag. So do not miss Borra Caves, Katiki Waterfalls, Srikurmam, and Srimukhalingam while in Vizag.  Stay : Dolphin Hotel An Awesome hotel with good rooms and a lovely spread in the buffet.
