Day2-Vizag
Day2:
Places Covered: Local Sight Seeing that Includes Simhachalam, Vizag Zoo, Kailasagiri, Vuda Park, Submarine Museum and Aircraft Museum
Mode Of Transport: Hotel Cab
Cost: Approximately Rs.1700
Simhachalam:
Simhachalam is about half an hour ride from the dolphin hotel, Visakhapatnam. The temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimhar.
Timing:
6 or 7 Am to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm.
Speciality: The Speciality here is, though the main god is Narasimhar, he is projected as a big Sivalingam.Varaha Lakshmi Narasimhar is covered completely with Sandalwood paste to make it appear like a Shivalingam. The original look of the Narasimhar could be seen only once in a year(Akshaya Tritiya). Viewing Narasimhar like a Shivalingam was completely different.
There was a separate queue for a 100 rs ticket. It is better to consider the quick darshan during vacation. The view for a 100 rupees ticket is closer than the normal queue.
Vizag Zoo
Transit time:25 minutes from Simhachalam
Entry fee: Rs. 50/ adult and Rs. 10/ child.
Minimum Time Spent: 1 hr 45 minutes.
It is a slightly bigger zoo and it is not possible for kids and elders to cover it by walk . So it is better to use a battery car option for which they charge 300 rupees. There is no separate queue for the battery car. One has to stand near the entrance and ask the battery car driver directly.
Our kid enjoyed the zoo and it was close to 2 Pm then. We had our lunch in Sai Priya beach resort which was just a 10 minutes ride from Vizag zoo. The food was very tasty. It was a great feast for our hungry stomach (but it was crowded a bit).
Rushikonda beach
Transit time: 3 minutes from Sai Priya restaurant.
It is like our Marina (Chennai) with various stalls nearby. Stick on to your time, to enjoy the other places too. We were there for about 50 minutes and moved towards Kailasagiri hill.
Kailasagiri
A very big Shiva Parvathy statue which is about 40 feet high is the center of attraction here. The ropeway (winch) to reach the hill(568 feet) is the specialty here. A beautiful garden is set up around the statue.
Other than that, I could notice nothing special here. As usual, the scenic view is good. There is a small wax museum inside the park for which they charge 40 rupees. Though it takes only 2 to 3 minutes inside. It was Good.
In short, it is a big park to enjoy the scenic view with a garden, a children's park, shops, a wax museum, a small train ride, and a winch ride. The minimum time that one can spend here would be 50 minutes to 1 hr.
Vuda Park- Another park with a big garden of various plants and flowers, a 15 minutes drive from Kailasagiri. Boating can be done here. One thing that caught my eye is, there is a big statue with its stomach as a tunnel opening. One can enter through this and can come outside through another way.
To summarise, it's a park with a garden, boating and a kid's park. We spent only 20 minutes here as we know our next spot would be crowded by then.
INS Kursura Submarine Museum
It is a good one with just a 2 minutes drive from Vuda Park. There was a heavy rush and we stood in a big queue for about 30 to 40 minutes to get the ticket.
A real and old Submarine has been used to construct the museum. It shows how a real submarine is constructed, how the people inside the submarine live, what they do and it is a good chance to learn about submarines.
They charge just about 40 per head as the entry fee. Humans like wax structures were used to show how and what happens inside a submarine.
There is also an aircraft museum opposite the submarine museum.
Aircraft Museum
Just cross the road from the submarine museum and you will find the entrance to the aircraft museum. Many types of aircraft are displayed here and one can even enter the cockpit area of some aircraft too to have a look around it.
Military aircraft models are displayed here. Many operations involved during the flight are also displayed.
Though both Museums were good, the Submarine museum was more interesting than the aircraft museum.
Super very well narated
