    • Travel time:
    • Time Spent: 10 to 15 minutes.

We started from the hotel by 9 am after having our breakfast and left for hosdurg fort.It was not maintained at all and they are just tall walls now.

Madhur Vinayagar:

Reached  Madhur Vinayagar temple by 10:45 am, the sanadhis were closed and we did not have proper view of the dieties there. The architechture of the garbagraha looked different like a 3 tier fat cone. This temple is one among the famous five ganapathi and shiva temples. We were back to the car by 11:05.

Anantha Padbanabaswamy Temple, Kasargod

Next spot was the most exciting and interesting one. It is the anantha padbanabaswsmy temple, Kasaragod.
We reached the temple by 11:30.
1. Anantha Padbanabaswamy Temple Entrance 2. The Temple In The Middle Of The Pond

This temple has a  very famous story behind. The story goes like, one of lord vishnu's devotte was performing his thavam or penance here. Lord vishnu in the form of a little boy disturbed him continuously and in one stage the saint got annoyed and pushed the little boy into the pond. The litte boy disappeared into a cave in the pond after which the saint heard a voice calling him inside the cave. The saint realised that it was lord Krishna who has come in the form of little boy and walked through the cave which lead him to the Trivandrum Anatha Padbanabaswamy temple moolasthanam. The cave is still present in the pond and it is locked.
There is another cave in the pond where a pure vegetarian crocodile lives. This crocodile feeds only on the neivaidhyam (not even the fishes in the pond). It is believed to protect the temple and the treasures. It is the only  crocodile that lives in the tank and believed to be in the same tank for years and years. We were lucky to get the darshan of the crocodile. Usually the crocodile comes out of the cave to have the neivaidhyam but it was crowded then, so the crocodile did not come out of its cave.  We went and peeped inside the cave to get its darshan.

Chandragiri Fort:

We had our lunch and proceeded to Chandragiri fort where we were the only visitor. It was not maintained at all and doesn't even look like a tourist spot An elderly man guided us to get a view from the watch tower. We did not spend much time here.
