Day 5: Coorg -Mysore

In Short: We covered Mysore during our last visit in 2015. So, we restricted our day with Dubare and Nisargadhama.
If you like to play in the water then spend more time at Nisargadhama and if you want to enjoy bathing and feeding elephants then prefer Dubare.
  • Nisargadhama:
    • Travel Time: 1 hour from Jungle Coorg Resort.
    • Time Spent: Minimum 1 hour if you do not have time constraints.
  • Dubare:
    • Early morning visit is better.
    • Try to be a bit early to stand in the queue. Though they say elephant bathing is allowed only during the early morning, don’t be in a hurry as the elephants are taken for bath even during the evenings.
    • Travel Time: Half Hour from Nisargadhama
    • Time spent: Totally depends on one's interest in feeding and bathing elephants. Minimum half hr to 45 minutes.

Nisargadhama:

Enjoyed being lazy during the first half of the day and started for sightseeing by 1. We visited Nisargadhama by 2:10. It is a very lengthy park. After a long walk, one would end up in a deer park. People were selling few cucumbers and carrots in plates during our last visit to feed the deer, but now the vendors were not seen. So the thrill of feeding the deer is missing now.

Deer Park is not the only thing here. The interesting part is the Cauvery river which is running at the backside. Once you enjoy viewing the deer, walk through the park and you will end up in the river area. We enjoyed 1 hour there bathing and playing in the water and moved to Dubare by 3:10.
1. One need to walk through a hanging bridge to enter the park 2. View from the hanging bridge 3. A walk through the park 4. After you walk all the way inside, you end up in a deer park.
1. Walking past the deer park, you will end up in Cauvery river( inside the campus) 2. Time to enjoy playing and bathing in Cauvery river.

Dubare:

It’s an half hour drive from Nisargadhama. We reached Dubare by 3:40. During our initial visit, we enjoyed(It was Awesome) walking across the river and bathing the elephants in the morning hours. But, this time we did not enjoy much as it was a bit hot and it made us tired. We chose to cross the river in motor boat .
A motor boat took us to the other side of the river. We fed the elephant, took snaps and returned to the other bank. My son spent half hour in playing in the water and we left by 5 clock.
1. A click from the motorboat 2. Dubare, the elephant camp entrance 3. Feeding elephants.
It is actually a place where one needs atleast an hour feeding, bathing the elephants. If you wish to walk on the rocks, do not opt for the motor boat ride. Just follow the people who walks to the other bank of the river. It is really fun and thrill to walk on the rocks.
We packed our bags and reached Mysore station on day 6. Thanks to  the driver who was with us for the whole trip. Reached Chennai on the same day.
