Fort Kochi

Reached Kochi from Chennai.Our stay at  Gateway Hotel Marine drive gave us an wonderful view of the Sea and Boats. After few hours of relaxation we started towards Fort Kochi in a local boat.

Boat jetty was only a few minutes walk from the Gateway Hotel Marine Drive.

Just 15 minutes to reach Fort Kochi in our local boat. Took 1-hour package in an Auto for 200 bucks to visit all the places in Fort Kochi by 3:40. We were able to cover them exactly by 4:40, just an hour.

We spent few minutes at St. Francis Church , Indo Portuguese museum(tunnel) , Indian Navy museum , Fort Kochi beach, Dutch cemetery  and Chinese fishing net.


Finally by 4:40 we settled the auto to catch the boat to Vypin Island

Boat Jetty to Vypin Island from Fort Kochi was only a few meters away from the Fort Kochi Beach and we got our Vypin ticket by 4:45. It was my first travel on a ferry. The Ferry ride was different. People use it to take vehicles to the other islands. People can also travel in it along with their vehicles. It’s actually like a moving bridge.

Cherai beach is one of the beautiful beaches here like our Besant Nagar beach in Chennai. But, it’s a very long way from the Vypin boat Jetty. We took an auto to and fro from the boat Jetty for 800. It’s a very long ride for about 45 minutes. We enjoyed the beach and we were back at the Boat Jetty to Ernakulam by 8:00. The boat frequency is only one hr once after 7:30 Pm. So we waited till 8:30 before we got into our local boat. It took half an hour to reach Ernakulam and we were back in our room by 9:00 Pm.

Note: If you do not stay at Vypin, it is better to avoid this beach as this beach is very far from the main area and one must plan for the return journey ahead. One can get the same fun at the Fort Beach. So, Plan it properly.

1.Realisation: Am I obsessed with my thoughts?  Will you please stop chattering? Why don't you leave me free ?Can you please stop thinking about it? Why do you always hold on to it?   The moment we informed others that we are planning to spend five days in Vizag, the first question everyone asked was " What is there in Vizag to spend five days?" . To be honest, we felt it tight by the end of our trip. Though Vizag as such doesn’t have many places to visit, there are places in and around Vizag to make the stay wonderful. For people who are interested in an ancient ruined sites, this is a good place to visit. Places Not To Be Missed: While in Vizag, it is better to combine Araku and Borra Caves and a few rare temples near Vizag. So do not miss Borra Caves, Katiki Waterfalls, Srikurmam, and Srimukhalingam while in Vizag.  Stay : Dolphin Hotel An Awesome hotel with good rooms and a lovely spread in the buffet.
